Thoughts for today

I never knew that being a librarian could be so personally controversial to me. I have certain very strong personal beliefs. About right and wrong. About my own responsibilities as a Christian.

My Sunday School class has been doing a study called "That the World May Know". It's really good and talks about how God placed Israel at the crossroads of the world so that they could be an influence for Him on the world. The application for me is how am I to be an influence at my crossroad where He has placed me?

So, while I'm a Christian and believe that pornography is morally wrong, I'm a librarian who believes that people should be able to have unfiltered internet access. Not so they can access porn, but so they can have freedom to live without others telling them what is right. Even though I happen to believe that what I think is right and pornography shouldn't even exist.

It's sometimes very hard to get these issues to come into line with my personal beliefs. I suppose its an issue of having to live in the world, but not be of the world. John 15:19
